Basil Seed  黑珍珠

 

黑珍珠(即明列子),其實就是是九層塔種子。客家話稱為七錢插,廣東潮汕地區稱為金不換或九層塔,皖北方言稱為香花子,中國北方部份地區則稱之為蘭香,是一類可用於烹調的香草,大多數是一年生植物,一些是多年生植物,包括非洲藍九層塔和泰國神九層塔。中國的九層塔和外國的九層塔的味道、形態略有不同。科學研究已經證實,九層塔具有強大的抗氧化、防癌、抗病毒和抗微生物性能。此外,九層塔在幼鼠實驗中已經被證實有減少血小板聚集和實驗性血栓的發病幾率。在印度,九層塔常被用於輔助治療哮喘病及糖尿病。在古醫藥學中,九層塔還可以被用於治療青春痘。九層塔自古以來被用在治療呼吸道問題、消化及腎臟疾病、癲癇、有毒昆蟲或毒蛇咬傷、發燒、流行病和瘧疾。

 

Basil, Thai basil, or sweet basil, is a common name for the culinary herb Ocimum basilicum of the family Lamiaceae (mints), sometimes known as Saint John's Wort in some English-speaking countries. Scientific studies in vitro have established that compounds in basil oil have potent antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties, and potential for use in treating cancer. It is traditionally used for supplementary treatment of stress, asthma and diabetes in India. Basil, like other aromatic plants such as fennel and tarragon, contains estragole, a known carcinogen and teratogen in rats and mice. While human effects are currently unstudied, extrapolation using body weight from the rodent experiments indicates that 100–1000 times the normal anticipated exposure still probably produces a minimal cancer risk.

Frosting 玻璃粉

 

玻璃粉(即藕粉)是久負盛譽的傳統滋養食品,蓮藕粉營養價值高,藥療作用也好,而且制成方便食品后食用簡易,用開水一沖就可食用,且味道鮮美,老少皆宜,難怪一上市,便受到廣泛好評。是一種不帶麩質的粉未,用干燥的蓮根磨成,在中菜及日本料理中作為稠化劑使用。食療方面,蓮藕味甘、性平、生熟均可食用,主治熱渴,散淤血,生肌;熟藕性溫味甘,有益胃健脾、養血補益、止瀉功能;主治肺熱咳嗽、煩躁口渴、脾虛泄瀉、食欲不振及各種血證。

 

Frosting (ie, lotus root starch) is a prestigious traditional nourished food. It has a high nutritional value. It is easy to eat by adding water.

Sago 西米

 

西米是由幾種棕櫚樹干內所儲碳水化合物製做的食用澱粉。原料是西米棕櫚,主要為原產於印度尼西亞群島。西米幾乎是純澱粉,含88%的碳水化合物、0.5%的蛋白質、少量脂肪及微量維生素B族。在太平洋西南地區,西米是主要食物,用其粗粉做湯、糕餅和布丁。在世界各地,主要的食用方法是製布丁或醬汁增稠劑。

 

Sago is a starch extracted in the spongy centre, or pith, of various tropical palm stems, especially Metroxylon sagu. It is a majorstaple food for the lowland peoples of New Guinea and the Moluccas, where it is called saksak, rabia and sagu. Sago from Metroxylon palms is nearly pure carbohydrate and has very little protein, vitamins, or minerals. 100 grams of dry sago typically comprises 94 grams of carbohydrate, 0.2 grams of protein, 0.5 grams of dietary fiber, 10 mg of calcium, 1.2 mg of iron and negligible amounts of fat, carotene, thiamine and ascorbic acid and yields approximately 355 calories.

Black Glutinous Rice 紫米露
 

紫米是水稻中的一種,因碾出的米粒細長呈紫色,故名。紫米有皮紫內白非糯性和表裡皆紫糯性兩種。紫米飯清香油亮軟糯。紫米的營養價值和藥用價值都比較高,有補血、健脾、理中及治療神經衰弱等多種作用。由於紫米有種種優點而且產量不高,所以更顯得珍貴。

 

 

Beacause we can grind out a slender purple rice, it has the name 'black glutinous rice'.  It has high nutritional value and medical value. It help enriching blood and tonifying spleen. Since there are various advantages and purple rice yield is not high, so they are precious.

Grass jelly 涼粉
 

燒仙草,客家稱為仙人粄,粵稱為涼粉,潮汕稱為草粿,又稱仙人凍,是華南地區著名的小吃之一。燒仙草的外觀和口感均類似粵港澳地區流行的一種藥膳龜苓膏,但味道不同,做法、材料等均不同。其功效為清暑,解渴,除熱毒。 亦可以治中暑,消渴,抗高血壓,舒緩肌肉、關節疼痛等。

 

 

Grass jelly, or leaf jelly, is a jelly-like dessert found in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia and Taiwan. It is available in various form, size and packages. It is most typically served chilled in a bowl, either by itself or with fruits, but also used in bubble tea. Outside of Asia, however, it is mostly sold in cans or packets in Asian supermarkets.
